Our Story. Our Communities. Our Commitment. For more than five decades, we've evolved, innovated, and grown β always with a focus on connecting people, powering progress, and building stronger communities.
Founded as the New Haven Telephone Company, our earliest customers were Greater New Haven businesses who wanted an alternative to the incumbent carrier. The company was built on a simple idea: telecom should be relationship-driven rather than sales-driven. Listen to clients, give them straight answers, and earn the next sale by doing the current one right. That principle hasn't changed.
Within two years we had outgrown the New Haven footprint. We expanded across Connecticut and re-launched under a name that reflected our service area: Connecticut Communications. The work was the same β installing and supporting business phone systems β but now from one end of the state to the other.
The company was acquired by Scott Marks, who still owns and runs it today. The acquisition kept the company independently owned and locally run, with the same engineering and service team in place. Most of our long-tenured technicians joined either before or shortly after this transition.
We launched Data Network Services β adding wireless networks, structured data cabling, and the foundations of what would eventually become our IT, cybersecurity, and physical security business lines. The reason was customer-driven: our voice customers kept asking us to handle their data too, and they preferred working with one vendor over two.
We acquired New England Communications, expanding our installed customer base and bringing on a new wave of seasoned voice technicians. The acquisition deepened our experience in Mitel and NEC deployments and added significantly to our reach across the state.
We launched Carrier Services β adding internet brokerage and managed circuits to the catalog β and moved our offices to Durham, Connecticut, where we're still based today. Adding carrier services meant we could now deliver the entire stack a Connecticut business needs: phones, internet, IT, and physical security from one vendor.
We celebrated 50 years serving Connecticut businesses. Half a century of installs, support calls, after-hours emergencies, and customer relationships that span generations of owners. A milestone we earned the hard way.
We acquired Voice New England, expanding our footprint further and adding another generation of seasoned voice technicians to the team. VNE customers now have CTCOM as their service team, with the same technicians they already worked with continuing to support them β under a larger umbrella with more resources, broader carrier relationships, and a deeper IT and security bench. More for VNE customers β
What we've kept across every phase of growth.
Most of our customers come through referral. Many have been with us for over a decade. We don't grow by aggressive sales β we grow because customers tell their peers.
We've evolved from copper PBX installs to cloud unified communications to SD-WAN and cloud-managed physical security. The technology changes; the standard of work doesn't.
Based in Durham, Connecticut, serving CT/NY/MA businesses. CT-based technicians. CT-based support. Family-owned. The phone gets answered.
Continuing to invest in the next generation of voice, IT, and security capabilities β and in the next generation of technicians to deliver them.
