Voice New England customers: we're now your service team. Get in touch. πŸ“ž (203) 985-1000 Β· Mon–Fri 8 AM – 5 PM

The company Connecticut businesses have trusted for 50+ years.

Locally owned. Statewide service. The team you can actually reach when something doesn't work.

Who we are

Connecticut Communications is the most experienced private contractor of telecommunications hardware in the state. We design, install, and support the systems your business runs on β€” voice, internet, IT, and physical security β€” from one team, with one phone number to call when something doesn't work.

What sets us apart isn't a slogan. It's the fact that we still answer our own phones, we still have CT-based technicians who know your building because they wired it, and we still pick up the phone after hours when there's an actual emergency. We've been doing it that way for over 50 years.

Our history at a glance

Founded in 1974 as the New Haven Telephone Company, we expanded statewide and re-launched as Connecticut Communications in 1976. In 2004, the company was acquired by Scott Marks, who still owns and runs it today.

In 2005, we launched Data Network Services, adding the IT side of the business that today includes managed IT, cybersecurity, and physical security. In 2015, we acquired New England Communications, expanding our installed base and technical bench. In 2017, we launched Carrier Services and moved our offices to Durham, CT, where we're still based.

In 2024, we marked our 50th anniversary. In 2025, we acquired Voice New England β€” adding another generation of seasoned voice technicians and a new wave of customers to our family.

To date, we've installed thousands of telecommunications systems across Connecticut. Since 1974, we've succeeded in a competitive industry by choosing customer service over sales and marketing. That's still the plan for the next 50 years.

What we do

We're built around six service lines:

  • Business phone systems β€” cloud, on-premise, and hybrid. Mitel, NEC, RingCentral, Zoom, Intermedia, 8x8, Star2Star, Grandstream.
  • POTS line replacement β€” replacing expensive copper analog lines with Ooma AirDial.
  • Internet & carrier services β€” brokering Cox, Verizon Fios, GoNetSpeed, and other providers. Adding BigLeaf SD-WAN for redundancy.
  • Managed IT & cybersecurity β€” full MSP for SMB, co-managed for businesses with internal IT.
  • Physical security β€” video surveillance (Digital Watchdog, Ubiquiti) and access control (PDK, Grandstream).
  • Structured cabling β€” voice and data cabling design, install, and certification.

Why customers stay

We don't try to be the cheapest. We're rarely the largest provider any customer evaluates. What we are is the company that picks up the phone, that's there same-day when the phones go down, that's been around long enough to have seen β€” and fixed β€” the problem before.

Most of our customers come to us through referral, and most stay for over a decade. We have customers who have been with us since the early 1990s. That's the metric we're proudest of.

Who we serve

We work across most industries in Connecticut, with deeper concentrations in:

  • Healthcare β€” medical practices, dental, behavioral health (HIPAA-aware)
  • Legal β€” firms where downtime costs billable hours
  • Education β€” K–12 and higher ed
  • Manufacturing β€” plant-floor voice, paging, networks
  • Government & public sector β€” CT DOC, DOT, police, fire, town halls, school districts (primarily on voice, cabling, carrier services)
  • Small & mid-size business β€” right-sized voice and IT without the enterprise bloat

For specific projects β€” new build cabling, office relocation, security camera install, network upgrade. Written quote, fixed scope, fixed price.

🀝

Ongoing service contract

For customers who want predictable monthly cost and a phone number to call. Maintenance, managed IT, or both. Per-user or per-device pricing.

Let's talk.

We'll spend 20 minutes on the phone, figure out if we can help, and tell you straight up either way.
